Well.. here you have it. The 2011-2012 Varsity Water Polo team. Aren’t we something? :) 

Dear Ashely, Briana, Brittany, Chrissie, Hannah, Katie, Michelle, Shannon, Sofie, and Tania, 

If you ladies didn’t know already, you’re all at the top of my list to “The Best People I Have Ever Met.” Those 5:30 AM practices, arguments about needing to be on time, discussions about things that are totally not related to the sport of water polo, random jokes that no one else will understand except our team, making fun of each other, 5 minute drills, 5 minutes passing, long ass swim sets, the board becoming red, coach being disappointed, happy, and funny, watching Twilight, secret buddies, and yummy team dinners, our losses, and our wins.. I will remember the moments I’ve had this season with you guys forever.

Thanks for motivating me to wake up and get out of my comfy bed every day and get into ice cold water to swim and throw a ball inside a net for the satisfaction of a victory together. Thanks for making me smile when I was having a bad day. Thanks for driving me to be the best athlete that I could be. 

I know this post makes it seem like I’m saying goodbye. 

But I’m not. I want you guys to know that this isn’t the end.. And as cliche as it sounds, this is just the beginning. We’re gonna make history in these next two weeks. We’re gonna show the doubters that we’re capable of being great at this sport. We’re gonna show people that we’re a great team. And of course, we’re gonna show people we can play Water Polo. Let’s do this ladies. 

Every practice counts, every ache that you will feel in your arms and legs counts, every breath you take after a stroke counts, and every shot you take counts. Make everything count and don’t give up. Because even the moments you feel like giving up… count. I want you guys to believe in us as much as I believe in us. Time to write the ending to our story the way we want it to be written.
